The Finnish AIPPI Group in cooperation with the Swedish AIPPI Group warmly welcomes you to explore the evolving landscape of IP business as well as the developing European patent framework.

The first day 21 April 2016 will start in Stockholm and then continue on a cruise through one of the most beautiful archipelagos in the world to Helsinki for Friday 22 and Saturday 23 April 2016.

The symposium presents a global array of speakers from the IP authorities, academia, industry and the IP profession. Please see the program for more details.

We look forward to seeing you in Helsinki and Stockholm in April 2016!

The symposium will start on Thursday 21 April 2016 in Stockholm, Sweden, on board a Viking Line cruise ship M/S Mariella.

After a day of exploring IP business opportunities, we will set out on a 400 km sea voyage eastward to Helsinki, Finland. This gives an opportunity to see two very beautiful and one of the largest archipelagos in the world. The entertainment opportunities on board will also provide some moments to relax.

At the start of the sea voyage we shall have an update session on the Unitary Patent and the Unified Patent Court including a panel with non-European views on the development of the European patent system. The first day will end with a dinner at sea.

A cabin for single occupancy is included in the symposium price. Double occupancy and upgrades are available as informed.

Our second symposium working day on Friday 22 April 2016, focusing on IP Valuation from various perspectives, will be held in Helsinki at Wanha Satama, a former harbor warehouse providing an excellent
congress venue.

Accommodation is provided at Hotel Katajanokka, just a few minutes from the symposium venue. Hotel Katajanokka is a modern premier-class hotel built in a historic prison setting dating back to 1837 and 1888.

A dinner will be arranged on Friday evening at Katajanokan Kasino (additional fee of EUR 100), just a short walking distance from the hotel. The restaurant Katajanokan Kasino, originally an officers’ club, offers the guests an opportunity to have a glimpse into Finnish military history.

The last day of the symposium, Saturday 23 April 2016, presents us with the opportunity to explore innovative design, design-based business, and the story of the Finnish design company Marimekko.

Marimekko is a design house celebrated worldwide for its original prints and colours. When the company was founded in 1951, its unconventional designs transformed the tradition of textile printing and clothing in Finland. Marimekko has remained true to its original mission of bringing joy to everyday life.

Viking Line ships provide excellent opportunities for entertainment and recreation on the open sea.
